Tethered Rides

The Pie Capital of Texas ™ Aug. 30 –  Sept. 1 Labor Day Weekend

We are happy to announce that tethered rides will again be available once again this year! A portion of the fee benefits the Kyle, Buda Kiwanis Club!

Festival attendees can purchase tickets on-site for $25 per person at the tethered ride tent, located in the balloon field. Tethered rides will be offered throughout the weekend (weather permitting*).

Advance tickets will not be sold and we will not sell actual hot air balloon rides.

Tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis and at the individual pilot’s discretion. Two hot air balloons will be available to provide tethered rides and can accommodate approximately 6-8 passengers per ride (depending on height and weight). Announcements will be made from the Main Stage when tethered rides open and close.

Tethered rides are scheduled to run from sunrise for two hours in the morning and two hours before sunset to one hour after in the evening, weather permitting. See full schedule.

Tickets: only available for purchase on-site

Cost: $25/person

Everyone who wants a tethered ride will be required to sign a waiver.

Passengers Requirements: This year we are happy to have one wheelchair accessible gondola basket and one traditional gondola for tethered rides! The opening for the accessible gondola (basket) measures 30 inches wide. Maximum height for those in wheelchairs will be 51 inches. A responsible caregiver will be required to ride with all wheelchair occupants. These individuals will also be required to pay for a ride.

Non-wheelchair participants must be at least 42 inches tall and must be able to stand in the hot air balloon gondola (basket). Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian and must sign a release for the child. All passengers must be in good health.

* Weather conditions during hot air balloon festivals are closely monitored by the Balloonmeister and festival organizers. Safety is our top priority. Tethered rides may be postponed or cancelled if conditions are unsafe; that may include high winds, elevated heat index, rain, lightning or other inclement conditions. Sign up for festival updates via text (free), which will be available beginning the day prior to the opening of the event. Check this website and social media for instructions. On site signage at the festival gate will also instruct festival attendees on how to sign up for free text updates.
